K93

MVS K93

A gliding door that is never open nor closed, it allows for choices. This storage unit is made of aluminum and sandpapered by hand for 160 hours straight by the same person, so that there is no irregularity in the strokes. (This equates to 4 weeks of sandpaper work). The ‘sandwich’ construction ensures that it is study yet light in weight.

Design: Maarten van Severen (1993).

Maarten Baas

Maarten Baas is one of the most influential Dutch designers of our time. Maarten Baas explores the boundaries between art and design with his work which is best known for it’s rebellious, playful, theatrical, artistic and often intellectual slant.

Story

Maarten Baas and Hans Lensvelt worked together to develop a collection of chairs with irregularly shaped backs. Through a clever technical application, the chairs each seem to have a character of their own, resembling a face. The collection was presented in Milan under the name "May I have your attention, please" and won the prestigious Milano Design Award, Best Concept 2017 during the Salone del Mobile.
