Stealth Cabinet
The Stealth Cabinet was originally designed by Wiel Arets for the new construction of the AZL building located in Heerlen. The materials in this building consist of glass, concrete and stucco which are concentrated materials that naturally create a cacophony of echoes. Therefore, additional attention was placed on acoustic value. The solution was to line the cabinets with sound absorbing material. A perforated screen was fitted to the sliding doors and to the back panel of the cabinet. The cabinets are assembled by attaching two or more inner units each 80, 90 or 100cm wide, where each unit acquires its own lock. The doors are placed on the outside of the cabinet and locks fitted on the top. The Stealth Cabinet can be used one-sided (49cm) or double-sided (90cm), lending efficiency. Lastly, drawers, pullout frames and all other imaginable lay-outs are possible enhancing versatility.
