Krattenkast / Crate Cabinet

The Crate Cabinet is a simple, unique and sustainable concept: Lensvelt produces the steel frame construction in a variety of shapes, each filled with recycled plastic crates that are used as drawers. The crates vary in color, height and rib construction, yet the dimensions of the bottom panels remain the same. Due to the random stacking of the crates, a stack of five crates can have the same height as a stack of three. This allows for the collection to always be distinctive and the manner of assembly endless, making the Crate Cabinet unique. The rough, indestructible appearance of the crates combined with the steel frame gives this cabinet an industrial and laissez-faire presence. The Crate Cabinet is available in three sizes (see specifications above).

Story

Mark van der Gronden

Mark van der Gronden graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2002 and opened his own studio that same year. Designing to him is the process of creation and interaction with materials and to continuously be inspired by new ways of thinking. His body of work has been exposed all throughout Europe and in the United States.
